Read the Case Study regarding Design on page 23 of the NSDC Standards text handed out in class. In your PLC discuss Discussion Questions 1-3. Have a record keeper in your group synthesize your group's responses to these questions. If your group needed more information, describe what you need to know and how you would go about discovering this information.

1. What are potential learning designs to consider in addressing specific school and district goals?
Various adults have different learning styles and the staff development leader and provider must select the learning strategies that are appropriate to the intended outcome and other situational factors.

2. What are some benefits and concerns associated with providing staff development 'choices' to adults?
The teachers choose the type of approach that best meets their needs and learning styles. Others spend their professional development time working collaboratively with their peers.
3. What are some benefits and concerns associated with applying technology in the delivery of staff development?
Technology provides a useful tool for accessing various means of professional learning. It provides for the individualization of teacher and administrator learning through the use of CD-ROMs, e-mail, the internet, and other distance learning processes. Technology also makes it possible for teachers to form virtual learning communities with educators in schools throughout the country and around the world. The concerns will be the future use of technology for teachers in their classrom, whether its recording data or implementing it into a lesson. Will they use it once or continuously?
